We’re here to help. Call 781-233-1054 for any other questions.

Answer: Yes, we do! We have experience treating mahogany, teak, ipe, oak, redwood, cedar, pressure treated and more.

We are experts at staining a variety of surfaces including porches, decks, railings, fences, siding, shingles and more.

Answer: Wood is organic. Mother Nature has a way of recycling all of her organic material, it’s called decay. The gray that shows up in the wood is mold and mildew rotting the structure away right before our eyes! The best time to stain and protect a fence, deck, or pergola is shortly after it’s been installed which also saves fence staining cost. By sealing it up before Mother Nature sets in, you can avoid the deterioration process all together and extend the life of your fence, deck, or pergola indefinitely! If left untreated your lumber will turn gray within a few short months (the average gray time is 12 to 16 months depending on how much moisture the wood encounters). The life of an untreated fence will run anywhere from 5 to 7 years (on average) before replacement becomes necessary. A well taken care of fence, deck, or pergola will maintain its integrity throughout the homeowners lifetime.

Answer: We recommend recoating every 2 years, but some decks may need re-coating sooner. It is very important not to leave the re-coating so long that the existing coating starts to break down as sanding may be required and this will become a more expensive maintenance path.

Answer: In ideal conditions, it can be gently walked on in bare feet or soft shoes after 12hrs, but we recommend to wait 2-3 days to re-furnishing your deck.

Answer: Yes. Many of our clients ask us to help them to get their decks restored or finished, so that they can continue the maintenance (a simple wash and top-up) themselves. Otherwise, you can call on us to perform the maintenance for you.

Answer: In some situations this is an option. If the visibility of the grain in not so important a scrub clean/re-coat option is possible and a far cheaper solution. However the best result, for worn and weathered decks, is to sand off the old coatings and oxidised timber surfaces.

Answer: Before the deck can be sanded, the nails (if the deck is nailed, not screwed) need to be punched approx. 2 mm below the surface of the deck so that when the deck is sanded, the heads of the nails remain in tact. Should the heads be sanded off, the boards will loosen and lift up. This punching-down process cannot be avoided, and whilst most decks are not negatively affected by the process, sometimes the timber around the nail hole can develop tiny splits. This can occur on none of the boards, just a few boards, or many boards and it is difficult to predict on which boards this will occur, as the timber type, age and condition of the timber interact to determine the likelihood of the splitting effect. Unless the deck is being viewed from very close to floor level, these tiny splits are not particularly noticeable and do not detract from the overall improvement of the look of the deck, especially once the deck is coated

Answer: Our equipment is the best, leading-edge technology available and, for the sanding that produces the most dust, we have full extraction systems attached. We remove from the site, at the end of the job, the bags of dust and any other rubbish we generate. The site is left neat and clean.

Answer: Mainly from the sun and moisture penetration caused by a lack of maintenance.

Answer: Your fence, deck, or pergola can be cleaned and restored to it’s natural wood color. This process will remove all of the built up mildew and mold growth and allow us to stain the wood as if it were new. The proper cleaning and preparation of the woods surface is a crucial step in obtaining the desired look after the staining has been completed.

Answer: Typically no. Most deck & fence stains are specially formulated to do both the staining and the waterproofing all in one application!
